The Shift Dress

I don’t know about anyone else, but my hands down FAVORITE fashion era was the Mod 60’s. Perhaps it began at age five, with my love affair with the mini-skirt, circa 1988. I was attending Kindergarden at a private Jewish Orthodox school in San Francisco, that strictly forbade any article of clothing above the knees. So naturally, I wore my favorite mini skirts as often as possible. Hey, it wasn’t all my fault. After all, at age five you better believe my mother dressed my half asleep self every morning before she took me to school.

Fast forward to today, and mod 60’s looks are still showing up on almost every runway this season. The Shift Dress may have originated in the 1920’s, but it had its major revival in the 60’s Mod Movement, which is most reflective in today’s current fashion.
